Nathaniel Makeeff
CAMPBELL — According to Public Information Officer Gary Berg with the Campbell Police Department, “On March 17, 2017, the Campbell Police Department received information that an adult volunteer coach from Westmont High School in Campbell may have started an inappropriate relationship with a student.”
Campbell sexual assault detectives started an investigation into the allegations. Berg said, “Detectives were able to gather enough evidence to indicate that the coach was having an on-going sexual relationship with the student in Campbell.”
After gathering enough evidence, sexual assault unit investigators arrested 20-year-old Nathaniel Makeeff on March 21, 2017. Makeeff was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail on felony charges of oral copulation of a minor and sexual penetration of a minor.
In order to determine the type of relationship the victim had with the suspect, investigators worked closely with the reporting parties at Westmont High School, which is a part of the Campbell Unified School District. Berg said, “At this time, detectives believe this was an isolated situation involving the one student.”
