San Jose’s 7th Homicide of the Year Leads to 6 Arrests

SAN JOSE —  The San Jose Police Department has reported the city’s 7th homicide of the year.

According to San Jose Police Officer Albert Morales, “On Saturday, March 25, 2017, at 10:17 AM, San Jose Police Officers were dispatched to the 900 block of Bard Street on a report of person down, with visible injuries. Upon arrival, officers located 19-year-old Joseph Viramontes suffering from at least one gunshot wound.”

Responding San Jose medical response units arrived on the scene and were unable to revive Viramontes, who was pronounced deceased at the scene a short time later.

“San Jose PD Homicide and Crime Scene Investigators responded to the scene and took over the investigation, which was determined to be a homicide. The motive or circumstances surrounding the death are unknown at this time,” Morales said. “The unidentified suspect has not been located.”

A month earlier, on Sunday, February 26, 2017, at 12:06 AM, San Jose Police Officers were dispatched to investigate reports of a person in the area of 83 S. 2nd Street located at the Tres Gringos Cabo Cantina. Arriving officers discovered a stabbing victim suffering from at least one stab wound. 35-year-old Francisco Lorenzo Navarro was pronounced deceased at a local area hospital a short time later.

32-year-old Robert Ruiz , 24-year-old Aaron Vallejo, 21-year-old Santos Trevino, 27-year-old Joseph Esquivel, 25-year-old Percella Esquivel, and 20-year-old Andrew Cervantes have all been arrested for Navarro’s murder.
