Police at murder scene (KTLA)
PALMDALE — In a sad turn of events, an 82-year-old grandmother was killed by her grandson on March 30.
29-year-old Richard Jesus Flores used a letter opener and a garden tool to not only kill his grandmother, Maria Valenzuela, but also attempt to kill his 56-year-old mother as she tried to intervene.
The suspect lived with his late grandmother on the 37000 block of Springfield Street.
Flores faces a sentence of 33 years to life in prison upon conviction. His bail is set at $2 million.
