Drugs, Check Fraud Charges for SLO Trio

SAN LUIS OBISPO – Complaints about bad checks came to the SLOPD on Tuesday April 11, who began an investigation.

One of the fraud victims provided police with a vehicle description and its license plate identification, and a local CVS store was able to provide photos of two suspects.

On Wednesday April 12th police spotted the suspect’s vehicle in a motel parking lot in the 1300 block of Calle Joaquin.

Further investigation after a stop revealed evidence of fraudulent check manufacturing.37-year-old Lamont Taylor and 33-year-old Christine Vulich were taken into custody.

The duo further revealed that hey had a room at the motel and that Vulkich’s 3-year-old daughter was in the room, being watched by 40-year-old Arnoldo Silva.

Upon entering the room, police discovered Silva unresponsive due to drug use.  Meth and paraphernalia were around the room, easily accessible to the child, who was promptly taken to County Child Welfare Services.

Evidence in the room linked the trio to multiple check fraud cases totaling over $160,000.

All three were jailed and their bail was set at $150,000.
