MERCED — 36-year-old Ishmele Brewer, a known gang member and convicted felon in Merced County, was arrested on April 11th after being caught with a firearm.
Just before 1:30 PM on that day, Gang Violence Suppression Unit officers stopped his vehicle on the 1600 block of West 16th Street. Being on felony probation, Brewer is legally prohibited from owning firearms and subject to occasional compliance checks.
Officers discovered a 9mm handgun and ammunition in the vehicle, resulting in Brewer’s arrest on charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm, possession of ammunition, probation violation, and gang enhancements.
He is housed at the Merced County Jail.
