MERCED — The Merced County District Attorney’s office has filed formal charges against 50-year-old William Li of San Francisco for the murder of 30-year-old Lijun Wang, whose body was found in a dumpster on February 6th behind the Rite Aid on G Street.
“She was brutally murdered, wrapped in garbage bags and thrown in a dumpster like a piece of trash,” said Chief Deputy D.A. Rob Carroll in a press release.
Investigators say Wang immigrated to the United States less than two years ago, hoping to make a better life for herself but being pulled into the world of trafficking and indentured servitude instead.
Detectives tied the murder to Li and made an official arrested on April 14th in San Mateo County. He was later booked into the Merced County Jail.
