SAN LEANDRO – A burglary suspect was caught in possession of a loaded firearm when he was arrested last Wednesday on seven felony charges.
Police responded to a report of a burglary at an occupied residence on Cape Cod Drive on April 26 at 1 PM, but the suspect fled before officers arrived.
Muhammad Mustafaa, 20, of Oakland, was identified as the suspect by detectives who viewed surveillance video provided by a local resident, which showed the suspect driving away from the crime scene.
Mustafaa and the vehicle were located near 106th Avenue in Oakland at 2:30 PM, and he was arrested within 10 minutes.
The Alameda County District Attorney’s Office has charged Mustafaa with first degree burglary and several weapons-related charges, including a felony notice of state prison eligibility—if convicted.
Mustafaa is being held at Santa Rita Jail. A pretrial hearing is scheduled for May 4, and no bond amount has been set for his release.
