FRESNO – On the afternoon of April 5th, 2016 the FPD received a call about a deceased male lying in a parking lot. The victim was behind a dumpster near the Starbuck’s parking lot at 1100 U Street.
51-year-old transient John Holiday lay dead within a concrete enclosure used to hold trash bins. He had been strangled and stabbed.
Investigators began their task of finding the perpetrator of the crime. They discovered a possible suspect, 28-year-old Norberto Cortez, who is also described as a transient.
Police contacted and interviewed Cortez, who then confessed to the murder and produced the knife he used in committing the crime. Last week, on Monday April 24th, Cortez was charged with murder.
