POMONA — Last week, 57-year-old Fernando Rodriguez was convicted of sexually abusing a female child for over a year.
It took the jury less than a day to come to their decision involving six counts — lewd acts, sexual penetration with a child under 10 years of age, child molesting, and exhibiting harmful matter to a minor.
Rodriguez’ sentence will be issued on July 12. The maximum sentence is 40 years to life in state prison.
The crimes occurred to a 5-year-old girl between May 2013 and July 2014.
It wasn’t until a year later that a teacher learned of the abuse and reported it to police.
Rodriguez has been in custody since July of 2015.
