AMADOR COUNTY — On June 1st, an employee at Pine Grove Market noticed a suspicious individual sitting in her coworker’s car, seemingly attempting to steal it.
The woman confronted the suspect, who then bolted — but not before she snapped his picture.
Responding deputies were unable to locate him on the roadways, in the woods, or at any of the homes in the area.
Hours later, police received a report that a suspicious person walking along Highway 88 near Climax. The man was contacted by Sheriff’s Deputies, who quickly identified as the would-be car thief from earlier that day.
33-year-old Arnel Serrano Jr. of Sacramento is now in custody for attempted vehicle theft, probation violation, and outstanding warrants.
