Four Arrested in Hollister Murder Investigation

HOLLISTER — Police have arrested four men in connection to the May homicide of 23-year-old Victor Barajas. The first of the four was arrested on June 2nd, with the additional 3 on June 5th.

Early in the morning on June 2nd, Hollister PD served two warrants in connection to the investigation, with assistance from the San Benito County Sheriff’s Office, the UNET team, and the San Benito Probation Department.

Two warrants were served simultaneously and resulted in the arrest of 20-year-old Jose Estrada III on murder charges, for which he is now held on $1,000,000 bail.

Later that day, 23-year-old Alfonso Contreras arrived at the police department after officers had served a search warrant at his home. He, too, was then placed under arrest with bail set to $1,000,000.

The third suspect, 22-year-old Luis Dominguez-Mojica, happened to already be in jail for assault with a deadly weapon, stemming from an incident on May 31st. Police are expected to add a new charge based on these recent developments.

On June 4th, a Hollister PD detective noticed the fourth suspect, 22-year-old Luis Garcia Mendez, driving along San Benito Street. Backup was called in and a high-risk stop conducted, at which point Mendez was taken into custody without incident.

Despite having suspects in custody, the investigation remains on-going. Anyone with relevant information or potential leads is encouraged to contact the Hollister Police Department at 831-636-4330.
