MONTEREY — Police have arrested 48-year-old Kelvin Williams of Seaside, suspecting his involvement in two recent robberies which occurred in Monterey and Seaside, respectively, on Sunday, May 28th. He is expected to be charged for both.
In the early morning hours of Sunday, May 28th, two people were walking the 300 block of Tyler Sreet in Monterey when they were approached by Williams and knocked to the ground.
The two reported that, while they were on the ground, he took a purse from one of them and threatened to shoot both of them, though both later stated they never saw a weapon. Williams then left the area in a vehicle.
Later that day, Seaside Police responded to a robbery report at the Walgreens on Fremont Street. The suspect reportedly entered the store, approached the cashier, and demanded an unknown amount of money while brandishing a gun.
Cash in hand, Williams struck off on foot.
On May 31st, Seaside Police Detectives, along with the Peninsula Regional Violence Narcotics Team, identified Williams as the primary suspect in both incidents.
A search warrant was served at his home and evidence connecting him to both robberies was found, including a black paintball gun.
Williams was arrested and booked into the Monterey County Jail, where he is held without bail. He is expected to face two charges of robbery and conspiracy, as well as a parole violation.
