FRESNO — On June 7th just after 9 AM, patrol officers arrived at the WSS shoe store at Chestnut & Kings Canyon to investigate a robbery.
It was reported that a lone suspect walked into the store and chose two pairs of shoes, then walked out the door. When confronted by a security officer, the suspect lifted his shirt to show the butt of the handgun tucked into his waistband. To avoid exacerbating the situation, the officer opted not to engage further.
Shortly thereafter, the suspect was seen running north.
Three days later on June 10th, just after 5 PM, officers arrived at the 99-Cent Store after a report of a carjacking. In this incident, the suspect took the keys from the victim as she entered the store, bee-lined right for her car, got in, and drove off. This time, however, the victim was able to snap a picture.
The photo, as well as other evidence obtained throughout the investigation, identified the suspect as Moises Maciel Sanchez (23).
Authorities were able to track him to a residence where he was staying and take him into custody without incident. Evidence connecting Sanchez to both crimes was also discovered at the home.
He has since been booked into Fresno County Jail on robbery charges.
