SANTA CRUZ — Police have arrested 35-year-old Randy Lewthwaite after a domestic violence incident at his home on Thursday, June 8th. He is charged with one count of assault with a deadly weapon, inflicting injury to a cohabitant, and carrying a concealed weapon.
The victim was an unidentified 31-year-old woman who is reportedly a friend of Lewthwaite, as well as his roommate. She told police they’d gotten into a fight earlier that day, after which he punched her in the head while wearing brass knuckles. She sustained a bruise on the side of her temple.
The investigating officer was also told he might be carrying a loaded firearm. He also had a misdemeanor warrant for his arrest.
Later on, an officer stopped him as he walked on Washburn Avenue.
Police recovered a .22 caliber handgun that was hidden in the front of Lewthwaite’s waistband.
Lewthwaite was arrested and booked into the Santa Cruz County Jail on charges of assault with a deadly weapon, inflicting injury on a cohabitant, and carrying a loaded firearm.
