SANTA ROSA — On June 22nd just before midnight, officers arrived on the 2000 block of Range Avenue to investigate what was reportedly a large group of people shooting at trees and vehicles.
Officers were particularly interested in whether they were using pellet guns or real ones, as the caller who reported the shots wasn’t sure.
No injured victims or damaged property was found, though officers met with a man and a woman who’d been sitting in a vehicle and may have had connections to the incident.
They were asked to exit the vehicle, at which point officers noticed a backpack stashed behind one of the tires. Inside, officers found a loaded .32 caliber revolver.
Continued investigation led to the arrest of the passenger, 24-year-old Giovanni Broussard of Santa Rosa, who was booked into the Sonoma County Jail on charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a concealed firearm, possession of a loaded firearm, possession of ammunition by a felon, and parole violation.
