ANAHEIM — A peaceful morning on the 4th of July turned to mayhem as a man, mowing his lawn at 11:11 AM, saw bloodied next-door neighbors run screaming from their house onto the front lawn.
As the neighbor grabbed a nearby baseball bat and dashed to help the victims, the suspect ran out and continued his stabbing assault. After getting hit with a bat numerous times, the suspect finally fled on foot.
Both Anaheim Police Department and Anaheim Fire and Rescue Firefighters responded to several 9-1-1 calls of multiple stabbing victims in the 100 block of W. Bluebell Ave. The first units on-scene found four victims, all suffering multiple stab wounds.
A 66-year-old female, a 48-year-old female, a 55-year-old male, and a 24-year-old male were transported to local hospitals and admitted in critical condition.
Preliminary investigation indicates a family member stabbed all four victims inside the residence.
Gino Liam Fuentes (20), believed to be related to the victims, was located about a mile from the crime scene and was arrested without incident.
Fuentes has been booked for multiple felony charges – four counts of attempted murder and one count of elder abuse. The motive for the attack is not known at this time and there is no prognosis on the victims’ conditions. Bail is set at $500,000.
Anaheim PD said, “Law enforcement does not recommend citizens become involved or intervene in violent encounters, but there is no denying the neighbor likely saved a life today. And yes, we encouraged the neighbor to submit his job application to APD!”
