Joseph Miles Green
VENTURA COUNTY — Just after midnight on June 25th, a 911 Emergency call reporting a stabbing on the streets of Moorpark quickly brought units of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department to the scene. Upon arrival, deputies discovered a 22 year-old male victim suffering what VCSD spokesman Det. Gabriel Gonzalez reported as “serious wounds to his upper body.”
The victim was promptly transported to Los Robles Hospital for treatment of his wounds; while he was in transit detectives at the crime scene soon determined that their prime suspect was 19-year-old Joseph Miles Green, a Moorpark resident.
Detectives at the crime scene quickly recruited additional support from the Moorpark and Thousand Oaks Special Enforcement Units to further the investigation into the circumstances of the attack and the whereabouts of Green.
Before the sun even had a chance to peek over the horizon on the 25th, detectives found Green at his Moorpark home. Following what must have been rather pointed conversation and some questions from law enforcement that were poorly answered by Green, he was summarily taken into custody, removed from the premises, and transported to Ventura County Jail where he was subsequently charged by the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office with one count of “felony assault with a deadly weapon.”
Just three days later, on June 28th, Green appeared at his arraignment at which time he filed a plea of not guilty. He currently remains in custody at Ventura County Jail with his bail set at $20,000.
