SALINAS — On July 19th just before 8 PM, police arrived at the basketball courts at Natividad Creek Park after receiving a report of someone with a head injury.
There they discovered a 23-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to the back of his head. He was still conscious and reportedly told officers he’d been accosted from behind, shot, and the suspects immediately fled.
The victim said he managed to make his way to the parking lot before collapsing.
He was transported to Natividad Medical Center, where his condition has since been stabilized.
No suspects were found in the immediate area of the attack. Police are strongly encouraging anyone with relevant information to come forward and call the Investigations Division at (831) 758 – 7226.
