Two arrested after probation search turns up ammo, drugs
Damien Lopez (L) and Juanita Miranda (R)
MERCED — On July 27th, the local Gang Violence Suppression Unit conducted a probation search of a room at the Siesta Hotel occupied by 31-year-old Juanita Miranda and 35-year-old Damien Lopez.
Lopez, being a convicted felon on probation, is prohibited from owning or possessing firearms and, as such, subject to random compliance checks per the terms of his probation.
GVSU officers found a sawed-off shotgun and ammunition on the hotel room, as well as packaged methamphetamine in Lopez’s car.
Lopez was arrested for being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, possession of a sawed-off shotgun, sales of narcotics, and gang enhancements.
Both Lopez and Miranda were booked into the Merced County Jail on the same set of charges.
