SJPD asking for public’s assistance in identifying and locating stabbing suspect

SAN JOSE — The San Jose Police Department is asking the public’s help in identifying a Hispanic male suspect seen in a video in a brazen attack on an unsuspecting victim. According to Sergeant Enrique Garcia, “On Saturday, June 10, 2017, at approximately 9:15 AM, San Jose police officers were dispatched to the 1700 block of Everglade Avenue on a report of a stabbing.”
Responding San Jose Police Officers found the injured 63-year-old Samuel Choi at the scene. The suspect has been identified as Hispanic male, mid-20s to 30s, 5′ 9″, with a medium build wearing a beard, wearing red shoes with a khaki backpack.
A video of the suspect has been posted online in order to help identify him (https://youtu.be/YywJM2ePSZ8). The video shows just as he lunges toward the victim, stabbing him multiple times. The suspect is then seen turning and running away in order to escape the area before police could respond to the scene. Choi succumbed to his injuries a week later on June 18, 2017.
