NAVARRO // On August 6th just before 7 PM, Mendocino County Sheriff’s Deputies arrived on the 2700 block of Sea Biscuit Drive to investigate reports of a shooting.
Deputies found that medical personnel had already arrived to discover a 55-year-old man dead from a potential gunshot wound.
Witnesses identified 58-year-old Michael Saner of Navarro as the shooter and his description went out county-wide. The Sheriff’s Office soon received an abundance of tips, one of which came from the EMTs who had responded to the initial call.
A vehicle matching the suspect’s had been seen in the area of Flynn Creek Road, allegedly traveling toward Comptche.
Off that information, a Sheriff’s Deputy and patrol deputies responded to the area of the Redwood Church on the 31200 block of Comptche Ukiah Road, where the vehicle was located with — lo and behold — Saner sitting inside.
He was taken into custody without incident and booked at the Mendocino County Jail on a charge of murder.
