PLACERVILLE // On August 27th at around 5 PM, Placerville PD officers arrived at the area of Ray Lawyer & Forni after the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office forwarded a report of an explosive device someone had found in their vehicle.
Responding officers spoke with the vehicle owner and were told that the device was found behind the driver’s seat, stashed in a black garbage bag.
El Dorado County’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team collected the device and deemed it safe. Placerville PD reports in a press release that the device “was a crudely made incendiary device, containing a flammable liquid and shotgun shells.”
Subsequent investigation and the discovery of video evidence pointed to 47-year-old Brian Anton “allegedly planting the device in the victim’s car on August 24th, 2017.” The victim didn’t find it until she was cleaning out her car a couple of days later.
Anton was arrested and his home searched. No other explosive devices were found.
He was booked into the El Dorado County Jail for possession/planting of an explosive device and probation violation.
