Man Found Guilty of Ex-Girlfriend’s Abduction and Assault in Duarte
LOS ANGELES – Deputy District Attorney Yoobin Kang Hernandez of the Los Angeles District Attorney announced last night that Alberto Casillas (38) of East Lost Angeles received a jury verdict of guilty for three felony counts of kidnapping, injuring an ex-girlfriend, and making criminal threats in case GA101048.
On May 3rd, Casillas kidnapped his ex-girlfriend in front of her Duarte home, forced her into his vehicle, then threatened to hurt her if she got out. He also assaulted the victim and threatened to kill her.
Evidence presented during the four-day long trial included Casillas driving to his East Los Angeles home, and a witness to the abduction contacting law enforcement about the attack.
When officers arrived at the defendant’s home, they found the victim in the driveway with injuries to her body, according to witness testimony.
The case was investigated by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Casillas is scheduled to be sentenced on September 28th in Department 1 of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Alhambra Branch.
Casillas faces a maximum sentence of 24 years and four months in state prison.
