SAN LUIS OBISPO — Around 2:30 AM on Monday, two witnesses saw a woman jump out of a moving vehicle and begin yelling at them that she had been kidnapped.
Police were called to the scene and interviewed the witnesses in Oceano. The incident apparently began in San Luis Obispo.
As the witnesses talked with the officer, they noticed the suspect’s vehicle driving nearby. Deputies immediately began a pursuit. The driver of the vehicle sped away at the sight of emergency lights.
Before long, 33-year-old Lompoc resident Daniel Guerrero crashed his vehicle and tried to run away but was apprehended and arrested.
The investigation revealed that the victim left a bar in downtown around 1:30 AM and was approached by Guerrero, who told her that two of her friends asked him to take her to another friend’s house. He used names she recognized.
The victim soon realized Guerrero was not taking her to said house, and then he told her she was going to have sex with him. She refused and demanded to be released from the car. After being struck in the face and chest, the victim unlocked the vehicle and jumped out, suffering minor injuries.
Charges so far include kidnapping, assault with the intent to commit rape, and false imprisonment. Bail is set at $500,000.
