MENDOCINO // On September 3rd just before 4 PM, Sheriff’s Deputies were alerted to a vandalism at Schlaver’s Chevron at 44901 Main Street.
The business owner reported that the credit card readers at the pumps had been intentionally damaged the previous evening.
Deputies had also investigated a similar case at the same location about a month prior, on August 1st. In both cases, the damage is estimated to exceed $10,000.
Before long, 53-year-old Robert Hollister of Little River was identified as the primary suspect. He was arrested at his home on the 3900 block of Little River Airport Road in Little River at around 11:30 AM.
Deputies also found tools and instruments which appeared to be consistent with the damage to the card readers.
Hollister is housed at the Mendocino County Jail on “two counts of felony vandalism,” with bail set to $25,000.
