FORT BRAGG // On September 2nd, Mendocino County Sheriff’s Deputies were alerted that 30-year-old Robert Brockway III had assaulted his girlfriend, though he managed to escape before deputies arrived.
Brockway is on “formal probation” with specific orders to stay away from the victim, who lives on the 3000 block of Simpson Lane.
Two days later, on the 4th, deputies were called to the same location by the same victim, who reported that Brockway was outside her house with a gun, screaming and kicking her car. Again, he fled before deputies arrived. This time, however, the victim was able to provide officers with a vehicle description.
The car was found back into a driveway on Boice Lane. Apparently, Brockway was still inside, and the vehicle pulled out and drove away as officers approached.
A chase ensued, reaching speeds up to 80 MPH. Eventually, Brockway led officers south on Mitchell Creek Drive and was forced to stop due to a dead end.
He was arrested without incident and caught in possession of a handgun and dagger, as well as “numerous live rounds of ammunition.” He is housed at the Mendocino County Jail without bail.
