SAN ANDREAS // On August 31st, Calaveras County Sheriff’s Deputies arrived at Lake Tulloch to investigate a report that four boats had been stolen.
Taken from the Poker Flat and Conner Estates areas, the boats were “stripped of valuables and left floating on the lake.” Three of the four were recovered, while the fourth remains missing.
The Sheriff’s Office Marine Safety unit began investigating and following up on leads, which led to the execution of a search warrant and the subsequent recovery of numerous items determined to have been stolen from the boats, as well as several other Copperopolis area thefts.
The search warrant was executed on September 7th at two locations — one on Woodland Avenue in Modesto and another on D Street in Oakdale. The latter culminated in the arrest of 29-year-old Justin Labass on charges of grand theft, burglary, possession of stolen property, and possession of ammunition by a prohibited person.
He is now held at the Calaveras County Jail on $105,000 bond.
