GRASS VALLEY // On September 9th, a Nevada County Sheriff’s Deputy on patrol near Idaho Maryland Road passed a vehicle matching the description of one which had been reported stolen.
The deputy turned around and followed the truck, at which point the suspect behind the wheel hit the gas.
The vehicle was found a short distance away on Clydesdale Court and a customer from a nearby business pointed them toward a neighboring property along Crown Point Circle.
A perimeter was established and 35-year-old Antonio Torres of Oakley was quickly arrested. He is charged with vehicle theft.
Grass Valley PD reports in a press release that Torres has a criminal history going back to 2011, when he was charged with a separate vehicle theft. He’s also been on the hook for charges such as “additional vehicle theft charges, reckless evasion from law enforcement, and drug charges.”
