Alpine Library
SAN DIEGO – On Friday afternoon inside the Alpine Library a man with a toy gun was threatening people.
Someone else called the police to report that they had heard shots fired, which may have been the sound from an airsoft gun. Other news agencies are calling it a “pellet gun.”
The suspect then left the library and headed west on Alpine Boulevard to Tavern Road.
It was then that the suspect Jack Wadel threatened to take out another gun from his backpack, and a citizen grabbed him in an attempt to prevent that from happening. The budding Good Samaritan received a cut under his left eye for his troubles.
Arriving deputies began to search for Wadel and soon discovered him behind Manana’s Mexican Restaurant, hiding under some boxes.
Upon Wadel’s arrest police found two black imitation handguns in his possession. He was charged with assault with a deadly weapon, threats, displaying a firearm and battery.
