‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ Star Nicholas Brendon Arrested for Alleged Domestic Violence Again
Nicholas Brendon
PALM SPRINGS –Nicholas Brendon (46) of Los Angeles can’t stop getting arrested for mixing alcohol and pills with explosive results. The latest incident landed the 1990 series’ “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” star in an overnight stay at a Palm Springs jail cell when witnesses summoned police for a bar-room assault on the actor’s girlfriend at the Saguaro Hotel’s bar.
During an argument, Brendon yanked the woman’s arm, then violently pulled her hair. Sgt. William Hutchinson of the Palm Springs Police Department, confirmed that the actor was “arrested for violating a protective order and for felony domestic violence,” and added that the woman “has active protective orders against Brendon in New York and Florida. Brendon is allowed to be around the woman, but not threaten, harass, injure or assault (her).”
Brendon’s arrests include an October 2014 disturbance with Boise, Idaho hotel employees and a charge of “malicious injury to property.” Extensive damage to a Ft. Lauderdale, Florida hotel room, with witnesses calling police, landed him a February 2015 arrest.
Similar charges one month later in Tallahassee, Florida were due to property damage (nearly $1,000 in damages to his hotel room) and criminal mischief. Brendon described the incident during a ‘Tallahassee Democrat’ interview as a “blackout” after taking nine sleeping pills.
Dr. Phil offered help to Brendon in September 2015 to discuss his depression and alcohol addiction and mentioned previous arrests. During the appearance, Brendan said, “When I was getting arrested on the road I would drink and I would mix them with those pills and I would wake up in jail. That combination for me was just very deadly. When you do those two things you just black out. And obviously, a rage exists because I would trash hotel rooms. I truly was insane. There was no rational thinking behind that at all. Pretty much all these arrests were related to sleeping pills and alcohol. Drinking initially quells the anxiety definitely, but then it just adds to the anger.”
When Dr. Phil questioned why the show’s provided hotel had asked Brendon to leave, and why he smelled alcohol on him at this moment, Brendon explosively walked off the set then ripped off his microphone.
Ironically, Brendon’s most recent project, a horror movie titled ‘Judgment,’ is due out next year.
Brendon was released from jail on October 12th when $50,000 bail was posted. A hearing is scheduled at the Larson Justice Center in Indio on November 28th.
