SANTA ROSA // On October 18th at around 2:30 in the afternoon, officers arrived on the 2300 block of Marsh Road to investigate a home invasion robbery.
The occupants of the home — a couple and their two children — had been awakened by the noise of several armed men entering the home. The wife and children were forced into the bathroom, while the husband was escorted to another room in the house and ordered to open a safe. The man was apparently stricken across the side of the face during the ordeal.
The suspects ended up leaving with an undisclosed amount of cash, jewelry, firearms, and a large amount of “processed marijuana packaged for distribution.”
The victims were able to contact police once the men fled.
Responding officers were quick to locate the suspects’ vehicle on the 1400 block of Fulton Road and conducted a traffic stop, resulting in the discovery of items clearly matching what had been stolen from the home.
The driver and vehicle occupant were arrested on charges of “robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, false imprisonment, kidnapping to commit robbery, and violation of probation.” The primary suspect is 32-year-old Yacob Dewitt Dain of Santa Rosa.
Violent Crimes detectives have since assumed control of the investigation, which remains ongoing. It is believed that the primary motive behind the robbery was related to marijuana and the money associated with it.
