LOS ANGELES — The murder occurred 27 years ago on December 8, 1990. Santos Lopez Corado, now 64 years old, was finally found guilty of the crime last Friday.
Back on that fateful day, Corado went to the home where his ex-girlfriend worked as a maid, forced himself into the residence and killed Kianfar Barkhordar, the homeowner.
He then stabbed and seriously injured his ex-girlfriend, and mother of his children, before fleeing the scene and disappearing from investigators for 25 years.
On October 9, 2015 Corado was discovered in Guatemala. He was apprehended and extradited to California, where he finally faced the consequences of his crime.
Corado was found guilty of first degree murder and attempted murder, along with the fact that it was committed while attempting a kidnapping. The maximum sentence that Corado faces is life in prison without the chance of parole. On November 16 he will learn his fate.
