VENTURA COUNTY — Among the requirements for a successful career in burglary is the ability to be in the right place at the right time. It’s also nice to have a little good luck on your side.
Unfortunately for a trio of retail pharmacy burglars in Camarillo on the night of October 18th, they seem to have had none of those attributes, and found themselves in custody promptly after they attempted to pull of a stealthy theft from the local area Vu Pharmacy well after the retailer’s closing hours.
According to Ventura County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Det. Gerardo Cruz, it was at approximately 4:00 a.m. when a “Camarillo patrol deputy was in the parking lot” outside the pharmacy providing patrol services pursuant to other pharmacy burglaries which had recently occurred in the area.
At that time, the patrol deputy “heard a noise inside the business” just as he heard the radio report of a burglar alarm emanating from the location. Moments later, the deputy spotted “two subjects crawling out of the closed business through a broken front door,” whereupon he confronted the two individuals who immediately fled on foot.
The two subjects, 27-year-old Jose Carrasco and his 21-year-old brother Martomiano Carrasco, both residents of Van Nuys, jumped into a getaway car driven by 22-year-old Bianca Rodriguez of North Hollywood, and the trip promptly escaped… but not for long. With the patrol deputy broadcasting a description of the suspect vehicle, it was only minutes later when a second patrol unit spotted the getaway car and conducted a traffic stop.
The ensuing investigation revealed evidence of the Vu Pharmacy theft, and all three suspects were taken into custody. Rodriguez and the Carrasco brothers, “known gang members from San Fernando Valley,” were transported to Ventura County Jail where they were charged with commercial burglary, with their bail amounts not established at press time.
