UKIAH // On November 5th just after 1 AM, Mendocino County Sheriff’s Deputies arrived on the 1500 block of North Bush Street to investigate reports of a domestic violence incident.
At the scene, deputies learned that a woman had been assaulted by her husband — 42-year-old Carlos Leon, who’d already fled prior to their arrival.
Furthermore, deputies learned that Leon had been intoxicated when what began as an argument “escalated to physical assault,” with Leon reportedly throwing a set of keys at the woman, which struck her in the face and caused visible injury.
Deputies searched the area and found Leon hiding at an apartment complex on the same block of the same street, at which point they chased him into an apartment and Leon decided to retaliate by punching one of the deputies in the face.
Despite his efforts to resist arrest, Leon was eventually taken into custody and booked on charges of felony domestic battery, resisting or threatening an officer, felony battery on a peace officer, and public intoxication.
He is housed at the Mendocino County Jail on $25,000 bond.
