MERCED // Merced County’s Gang Violence Suppression Unit has made an arrest after discovering that a convicted felon, 19-year-old Daniel Vasquez, was in possession of a firearm.
Given Vasquez’s prior conviction, he is legally prohibited from owning or possessing firearms.
Deputies paid Vasquez a visit at his home on the 1600 block of Conestoga Drive. They’d also determined that Vasquez had an “outstanding felony warrant for a probation violation.”
Vasquez was taken into custody. A search of his room turned up a stolen 1911 .45 caliber handgun and ammunition.
