Abdelkarim Abdelmajid
VENTURA COUNTY — When checking into a hotel or motel, it’s always a good idea to follow the suggestions of management and to read the notices posted inside a room urging guests to lock your door.
The import of that warning was made crystal clear to a female guest at the Days Inn Motel in Camarillo in the early evening hours of November 7th when 49-year-old San Gabriel resident Abdelkarim Abdelmajid forced his way into her motel room and, according to Ventura County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Sgt. Rick Harwood, “brandished a weapon to sexually assault the victim.”
With that violent crime against his innocent victim complete, Abdelmajid “then robbed the victim of personal property” and exited the hotel room, fleeing the scene.
Responding deputies from the Camarillo Police Department Sheriff’s Major Crimes Bureau and the Special Crimes Unit responded to the initial armed robbery report, and as they initiated a complete investigation, a description of Abdelmajid went out to area patrol units.
A short time later, Abdelmajid was located in the Woodland Hills area, whereupon contact was initiated. It was quickly determined that Abdelmajid “was still in possession” of the victim’s stolen property, giving deputies ample probable cause to summarily place him under arrest.
Abdelmajid was transported to Ventura County Jail, where he was booked into the Pre-Trial Detention Facility on charges of armed robbery and felony sexual battery, with his bail set at $100,000.
