Math Teacher Arrested for Lewd and Lascivious Acts with 12-Year Old Girl

Chad Zitzner

SANTA CLARA COUNTY – The Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Department has announced the arrest of a 45-year-old male suspect for the sexual assault of a 12-year-old girl left in his care.

According to Sgt. Richard Glennon, “Sheriff’s Office Deputies arrested 45-year-old Chad Zitzner of San Jose for lewd and lascivious acts with a child.” An investigation into the allegations against Zitzner began in July of 2017 when school authorities alerted the Sheriff’s Department that Zitzner was suspected of molesting a young 12-year-old student.

While teaching for Math Enrichment, a summer math camp, it is believed that Zitzner had begun to touch the young girl inappropriately. During the extended stay at the camp, the female student was sexually assaulted by Zitzner multiple times during his teaching sessions.

“This investigation, led by the Sheriff’s Office Sexual Assault Investigation Unit, was initiated following a report by the mother of the female victim,” Glennon said. “At some point after the conclusion of the camp, the victim disclosed to her mother that Zitzner had touched her inappropriately on multiple occasions while at camp.”

After the initial investigation found the allegations to be credible, with the help of the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s office filed for a $300,000 bench warrant against Zitzner, calling for his arrest.
