CAMINO // El Dorado County Sheriff’s Detectives discovered a large-scale “commercial style” Butane extraction lab during a follow-up to a narcotics investigation.

On December 6th, detectives obtained a search warrant for a home on the 5000 block of Monte Vista Way and ended up seizing several items consistent with the commercial manufacturing of concentrated cannabis, including commercial vacuum ovens, five-gallon cylinders of butane, a commercial decanter system, and a closed-loop butane oil extraction system.

Detectives also seized about $14,000 in cash and nearly $10,000 in silver, as well as approximately 300 pounds of marijuana and four firearms.

Later, a HAZMAT team was called in to mitigate the safety risk in the event any explosive solvent chemicals on the property.

By the time everything was said and done, 43-year-old Joshua Martin was in custody for manufacturing a controlled substance and conspiracy. He is housed at the El Dorado County Jail in Placerville.
