SANTA ANA – Brandon Antwan Hunter (31) of Las Vegas has been convicted and sentenced to eight years in state prison for having unlawful sex with a minor and trafficking/pimping her for financial gain.
The Orange County District Attorney’s Office has announced, “Hunter met 16-year-old Jane Doe of Utah in Las Vegas and trafficked her to Costa Mesa in early November 2017.”
After Hunter had unlawful sex with the girl between November 20-24, he pimped her by arranging for his victim to meet with sex purchasers. Hunter then took and kept all of the commercial sex monies for his own benefit. He also arranged for Jane Doe to solicit sex in known areas of prostitution.
OCDA noted, “Hunter is a human trafficker/pimp who exploits woman and children. In the pimp/prostitution subculture, pimps often assign ranks to the women they exploit. With the rise in popularity of social media and ease of meeting people on the Internet, many pimps and human traffickers utilize a variety of social media to locate potential victims.
They often establish rigid rules their victims are expected to follow including requiring victims to speak only when spoken to, address the pimp as “Sir” or “Daddy,” assigning seats in the car based on “rank,” and setting daily quotas the victims are expected to fulfill. The victims are required to turn over all payment they receive for sex acts from sex purchasers to their pimp. Failure to follow these rules can result in deprivation of food and/or physical or emotional abuse.”
When Hunter got into an altercation at a Costa Mesa motel, spurring a motel patron to call police, Costa Mesa PD officers responded and arrested the pimp. The OCDA noted, “CMPD located Jane Doe in the room and identified her as a potential victim of human trafficking.”
This case was investigated by CMPD and the multi-agency Orange County Human Trafficking Task Force (OCHTTF).
OCDA added, “Hunter pleaded guilty to the following felony counts: human trafficking of a minor, pimping a minor, pandering a minor over 16 by procuring, and unlawful sexual intercourse.”
In addition to the eight-years’ sentence in state prison, Hunter has been handed mandatory lifetime sex offender registration.
