VALLEY SPRINGS // Police are on the lookout for two suspects after a late-night burglary at the Dollar General Store in Valley Springs on December 6th.
At around 3:30 AM, Calaveras County Sheriff’s Deputies arrived at the Dollar General on Riley Way after the store manager arrived and found the front glass door smashed in. Deputies checked the premises but no suspects were located.
Deputies then reviewed store surveillance footage and discovered that, at around 11:50 PM the night before, two burglars came to the front door and attempted to break it. Eventually, they were successful and made their way inside. One suspect reportedly went directly to the locked cigarette cabinet but couldn’t get inside.
The two are then seen snatching a pre-paid cell phone from one of the aisles before finally leaving the store.
Both suspects, who appear to be younger men in their late teens to early twenties, were wearing dark hooded sweatshirts. The investigation is ongoing.
Anyone who may recognize the suspects or have any information relevant to the investigation is encouraged to contact the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office at 209-754-6500.
