There have been a total of 10 separate and apparently random shootings since November 27 – eight in Fresno County and two in Madera County, which police suspect are all connected.
Reports are similar: the victim is driving, hears loud bangs as oncoming traffic passes by, bullet holes are found on their car. One woman has been struck and suffered non-life threatening injuries. The Fresno County shootings have all occurred on the outskirts of Kerman and mostly at the starting and ending of traditional commuting hours.
There is now a description of the vehicle believed to be involved: a dark colored pickup truck with a lifted body and extended cab or crew cab on over sized tires.
The following are the accounts of each shooting (only one incident resulted in injury):
11/27/2017, about 6:45 AM, Madera County: Vehicle struck while traveling on Highway 145 (Madera Ave) and 8 ½.
11/27/2017, about 9:30 PM, Fresno County: Vehicle struck with traveling on W. California Ave near S. Bryan Ave.
12/01/2017, about 3:30 PM, Fresno County: Vehicle struck while traveling on N. Dickenson near W. Shields Ave.
12/01/2017, about 4:30 PM, Fresno County: Vehicle struck on N. Dickenson near W. Shields Ave. Driver struck and treated for non-life threatening injuries
12/04/2017, about 4:30 PM, Fresno County: Vehicle struck while traveling on Highway 145 (Madera Ave) near W. Barstow Ave.
12/07/2017, about 6:45 AM, Madera County: Vehicle struck while traveling on Highway 145 (Madera Ave) near Avenue 6.
12/11/2017, about 4:30 PM, Fresno County: Vehicle struck while driving on Whitesbridge Ave near Howard Ave. .
12/11/2017, about 5 PM, Fresno County: Vehicle struck while traveling on S. Dickenson and W. Church Ave.
12/15/2017, about 7 AM, Fresno County: Vehicle struck while on Dickenson near Central Ave.
12/17/2017, about 2 PM, Fresno County: Vehicle driving on Trinity Ave near Shaw Ave.
Fresno County Sheriff’s Office, Madera County Sheriff’s Office, and the California Highway Patrol are collaborating to capture the person or persons responsible for these shootings. The motive remains undetermined.
There is a $3000 reward for information leading to the capture of the suspects(s). Tips can be reported anonymously by calling Crime Stoppers at 559-498-7867.
If you suspect your vehicle has been struck, pull over at the next safe area available. If you see any damage which may have been caused by gunfire, call 911 immediately. “The faster the information is reported, the quicker patrol units can respond to the area and search for the shooter.” (Fresno County Sheriff’s Office).
