FREMONT // Police have arrested three people in connection to an attempted murder which took place on the morning of Sunday, January 7th, in the area of Summit Drive.
While details remain under wraps as the investigation continues, Fremont PD reports that a gun was fired during the incident. During preliminary investigations, officers were able to collect several pieces of evidence left at the scene which led them to a homeless encampment in the area of Grant Street and Almaden Avenue in San Jose.
Several subjects were located and detained at the encampment and, upon judicial approval, police served a search warrant and ultimately detained three subjects in connection to the investigation.
After a series of interviews, all three were formally arrested. They are identified as Sugey Garcia (20), Jennifer Cabrera (18), and Alfredo Carabes (24); all charged with attempted murder, using a firearm during the commission of a felony, robbery, and vehicle theft, respectively.
Further investigation also led police to conclude that a fourth suspect was involved and had taken off on foot prior to the incident, after reportedly being confronted by the victims during the incident. One of the victims, identified only as a 45-year-old resident of Fremont, was treated and released from the hospital that morning. The other, 47, remains hospitalized and is still being treated.
The three suspects arrested are due for arraignment this afternoon, January 9th, at 2 PM.
