LANCASTER — On June 16, 2015, a sad event occurred when Demonte Antone Thomas, 28 years old at the time, struck a dog while driving his vehicle.
The dog’s owner, 22-year-old Michael Davis, followed Thomas and asked/demanded he help pay for his poodle to be treated. Thomas fled, but that didn’t end the incident.
That same night, Thomas went to Davis’ home with up to seven other men and fatally shot Davis with six shots. The dog also died from his injuries.
Thomas was found guilty on July 27, 2017, of first degree murder, with a handgun enhancement. Last Friday, he was sentenced to 50 years to life in state prison.
