MONTEBELLO — When police officers saw a U-Haul truck run a red light, they checked the license plate and determined that it was a stolen vehicle.
Their attempt to stop the truck instead became the beginning of a chase that involved both the freeway and surface streets. The chase ended in Montebello when the truck hit another vehicle.
24-year-old Trisha Marie Martinez and 29-year-old Harold Brian Escobar were arrested. Martinez was charged with driving or taking a vehicle without consent, receiving a stolen vehicle, fleeing police, hit and run with property damage, and DUI. Her bail is set at $100,000 and she faces up to 4 years and 8 months in prison.
Escobar was charged with receiving a stolen vehicle and fleeing police. His bail was set at $200,000 and he faces up to 8 years and 4 months in prison if convicted.
