BURBANK — On December 9, 2016, an incident occurred that resulted in the death of an innocent bystander.
Harouton Vagarshak Stepanyan, now 25 years old, became involved in a fight near Palm Avenue and Glenoaks Boulevard and stabbed his victim in the chest.
As the victim tried to drive himself to the hospital, he struck 52-year-old Rodolfo Tan, walking on the sidewalk, and killed him.
Stepyan had been charged with murder in Tan’s death, as well as attempted murder in connection with his stabbing victim. The judge dismissed the murder charge, although the LA County District Attorney’s office objected.
Although he pleaded no contest, he was sentenced to four years in state prison.
