HOLLISTER // Police have identified 31-year-old Cory Dean Daughtery as the primary suspect in a sexual assault investigation which began in October of 2017.
The investigation began after the victim checked themselves into Hazel Hawkins Hospital after reportedly being sexually assaulted in downtown Hollister on October 4th. Police Detectives were able to determine the date and time of the incident, as well as isolate key moments, when reviewing CCTV footage from the area.
Police then released stills from the footage to the public on January 11th of this year, prompting two separate sources to come forward and identify Daughtery as the suspect in question. Detectives then worked closely with the victim and gathered enough information to secure a warrant for Daughtery’s arrest as of yesterday, January 18th.
Daughtery’s warrant includes multiple charges, including rape, and carries a bail amount of $130,000. He’s also reportedly on the hook for an outstanding “No Bail” warrant for parole violation.
Daughtery is believed to be a transient and, as such, his current whereabouts are unknown. Police say it’s possible he may have left the Hollister area altogether.
Nonetheless, the public is encouraged to keep an eye out and contact police with any information that may lead to Daughtery’s whereabouts. The Department can be reached at 831-636-4330, while those wishing to remain anonymous have the option of calling WeTip at (800) 78-CRIME.
