Sacramento Police investigating shooting on 44th Street

SACRAMENTO // Police have opened an investigation into a shooting that occurred on January 14th and left one victim dead.
On January 14th, just before 9 PM, officers arrived on the 3500 block of 44th Street after receiving word that someone had been shot. There, they discovered an adult male unresponsive, having suffered a gunshot wound. Despite life-saving efforts by both police and responding members of the Sacramento Fire Department, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation has since been handed over to homicide detectives and crime scene investigators, who have yet to determine a motive for the shooting. The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of family.
