HEBER – Officers were called out to a residence at 66 W. Mallard Street on Tuesday evening for a “shots fired” call.
Responders confirmed that 54-year-old Mario Salas and 26-year-old Juan Salas were inside the house and one of them was holding a handgun.
A perimeter was set up, the street was blocked and neighboring residents were evacuated in an attempt to peacefully resolve the situation.
The incident then lasted for several hours as authorities tried to talk to the duo via loudspeakers, directing them to come outside.
Once a search warrant was obtained, members of SERT (Special Emergency Response Team) entered the residence and arrested the pair. They confiscated two 9mm handguns and high capacity magazines.
Juan Salas was charged with negligent firing of a weapon and resisting arrest, as well as being as felon in possession of a firearm. His bail was set at $10,000.
Mario Salas was charged with resisting/obstructing a police officer and his bail was set at $1,500.
