ANDERSON // After several reports, police have begun an investigation into multiple vandalisms in the Pinon Avenue and Bruce Street Areas.

Calls began pouring in shortly before 9 AM on February 11th after several people had gone outside to find their cars damaged, at which point a beat officer was assigned to the area. In total, thirteen vehicles had had their windshields smashed.

According to police, some of the windshields appear to have been broken with a sharp object and others potentially with a fist. All were reportedly broken directly in front of the driver’s seat, rendering the vehicles unsafe and illegal to operate. At this time, it is believed there was no motive other than being a public nuisance.

The total cost of the damages is estimated to be about $5,000.

Luckily, one resident was able to capture the suspect on video and provide a description. He is reportedly a white male adult standing somewhere between 5’10” and 6 feet with a large belly. He appeared to be wearing a dark-colored hat, t-shirt, long pants, and a backpack. Time stamps on the video indicated that the vandalisms had occurred sometime between 3 and 5 AM.

As the investigation unfolds, Anderson PD is calling on the residents of Pinon Avenue and Bruce Street areas to stay vigilant, check their vehicles for damage, and come forward with any footage or information that may be relevant. While each individual vandalism is only considered a misdemeanor, Anderson PD intends to seek felony charges.
