Woman Pleads No Contest in Boyfriend’s Stabbing Death

LONG BEACH – On Valentine’s Day, a woman faced the music concerning an incident last year in which she stabbed her boyfriend.

On March 1, 2016, 34-year-old Yvonne Marie Pina was in an argument with her boyfriend, 21-year-old Aaron Flores, that had been lasting, according to reports, “for several days.”

During the fight, Flores tried to leave Pina’s home in the 1800 block of East Hardwick Street using Pina’s car, but was unable to do so. He then borrowed a neighbors phone, presumably to arrange a ride.

During the phone call, Pina went and got a knife and came back out to face Flores.  The report states that she asked him, “You want to hit me?”  Then she proceeded to stab Flores as he was on the phone.

The victim responded, “Look at me.  What did you do to me?”  Pina then drove Flores to the hospital, but he later died of his wound.

On Wednesday Pina pleaded no contest to one count of voluntary manslaughter with the allegation that she used a knife in the commission of the crime.

She faces seven years in state prison at her sentencing on March 12.
